MG Windsor: MG Motor is steadily building its name in India with feature-laden, tech-forward cars. In the MG Windsor, the marque will make a big step in the redefinition of premium electric mobility.
Not yet officially on sale at time of writing, the Windsor has attracted increasing attention thanks to its mix of premium styling, electric technology and clever tech – positioning itself as a class above more ordinary EVs, such as the ZS EV.
Streamline And Elegance LOOK
The MG Windsor features a modern, contemporary style with a European flavor, yet not quite as aggressive as some other models.
And its aerodynamic shape, flowing lines and curving headlights make it look more like an expensive sedan rather than a typical SUV.
Look for a closed-off front grille, stylish LED headlamps and a coupe-like profile that enhances its luxury aura.
Overall stance is low-slung and sporty, targeting buyers who crave a departure from the regular boxy SUVs that are currently in vogue in the Indian EV space.
High shine paint colours, chrome highlights and unique alloy wheels add to Windsor’s premium look.
Premium Cabin Experience
Slide into the interior, and the Windsor will attempt to deliver a high-end, luxurious cabin.
Details will certainly differ, but MG plans to treat the cabin to varying degrees of soft-touch materials, leatherette upholstery, and ambient lighting to add to the car’s refinement.
The dash design is expected to be clean and jerky, dominated by a prominent touchscreen infotainment unit in the center.
Other anticipated features are an all-digital instrument cluster, ventilated and power-adjustable front seats, 360-degree camera, panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charger and advanced connected car system through MG’s i-Smart platform.
We’re also guessing the rear seats will be spacious for the class, offering sufficient legroom and upscale touches (like a center armrest, USB charging ports and climate vents).
High power and competitive range in an all-electric powertrain
The Windsor could be based on an all-new electric architecture and use a 50-70 kWh battery.
It is likely to offer a 400-500 km driving range in real world conditions per single full charge, a number that is in line with international electric sedans and upper-segment EVs.
Performance statistics can range for single or dual motor configuration with somewhere around 180–250 bhp, depending on configuration.
It will be instantly torquey, accelerate seamlessly, and ease down the highway in silence, to be used in city traffic and for touring the highway.
DC fast charging capability will mean you can juice the Windsor from 10% to 80% in less than 1 hour whereas full home AC charging will happen around 7–8 hours.
Higher Level of Safety and Driver Assistance
The MG Windsor – when it comes to safety, it is also expected to be a leader.
Expect the safety features to be about 6-8 airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, hill-start assist, tyre pressure monitoring system, and of course ISOFIX mounts in the rear for the kids.
In addition, MG could also provide ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) on top-end variants, such as lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, emergency braking, and blind spot detection.
These will help widen the Windsor’s appeal among safety-conscious buyers by offering next-gen tech.

MG Windsor: Verdict
Simon Staar, deputy general manager at MG Motor UK, said: “The MG Windsor brings to life MG’s desire to disrupt the premium electric car market with a car that offers style, space, technology, and sustainability.
It’s a vehicle for urban professionals and forward-thinking buyers who are on the cusp of electric luxury but are not quite ready to join the ranks of ultra-premium German buyers.
If priced well, Windsor could find its strong niche and can redefine expectations on what an Indian-market luxury EV can provide.
