Maruti Jimny 2025: Maruti Jimny 2025 continues to carry forward the perception of being a small, off-roader capable and tough vehicle in the Indian market.
Its timing couldn’t have been any better, due to the renewed interest in lifestyle SUVs – the Jimny has snuggled into a gap in the market as a small, easy-to-own vehicle with genuine 4×4 credentials.
Well known around the world for its reliability and toughness, the Jimny brings a modern approach, a lower price, and more manageable dimensions than some other, more luxurious SUVs out there – just right for those that would never would have a use for such a huge vehicle.
As for the 2025 iteration, Maruti Suzuki has concentrated on practicality, equipment and comfort, which might just help the Jimny transform into an everyday, driver-friendly, off-road plaything.
Bold Yet Compact Design
The Maruti Jimny still dons its evergreen boxy styling, reminiscent to how off-roaders used to be.
Its boxy proportions, circular headlamps, slatted grille and flat bonnet also lend it an identity of its own in a segment saturated with curves.
The 2025 refresh does come with a few cosmetic changes — new bumpers, redesigned alloy wheels, and additional car colours to choose from, including dual-tone to give it a sportier look.
It feels big on the road but because of its size, and the way it looks too, the Jimny simply dominates it. Those ladder-frame chassis, short overhangs and high ground clearance are not just there to look good, after all — they’re key to its off-road capability.
It’s one of the rare sub-four-meter SUVs that seems prepared to tackle a forest trail or a mountain pass.
Interior and Features
On the inside the Jimny is a no-nonsense place with simple, practical ergonomics. The dashboard is an upright, utilitarian exercise, with controls exactly where you’d expect them.
For 2025, mild updates to materials and tech are joined by a larger touchscreen, updated infotainment that adds Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and easier-to-read instrument cluster.
The seats are high and comfortably supportive, offering a good view around the cabin. Rear space is tight, but adequate, for two adults on short trips.
Boot capacity is limited with all seats up, but can grow significantly when the rear seats are stowed.
Maruti also gets automatic climate control, power windows, engine start/stop and rearview camera, making its city usage more comfortable than ever.
Engine and off-road proven
The Jimny is powered by the tried-and-tested 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine, which pushes out approximately 105 PS of power and 134 Nm of torque.
Although these number may not get your pulse racing on a piece of paper, the engine does a good job in the real world, thanks mainly to the low kerb weight of the SUV and the strong low-end torque. It comes with a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission.
The Jimny’s party piece, however, is its 4×4 drivetrain with low-range transfer case (Suzuki’s AllGrip Pro system).
This makes it a true off-roader, South Park says, allowing for rough terrains, steep inclines and slushy trails. Whether you’re climbing a steep hill or taking cutting through country lanes, the Jimny feels sure-footed and in control.
Ride Comfort and Practical Applicability
On normal roads, the Jimny’s ride is very firm due to its tough suspension and ladder-frame construction.
It’s not as luxurious as monocoque crossovers, but it does provide a reasonably comfortable ride for urban and freeway travel. The steering is light, visibility is great, and because it is so small it is simple to park and navigate.
It’s a one-off vehicle that provides a sense for what off-road-prepared capability can be maintained in a vehicle that’s otherwise not too difficult to deal with for the real world.

Maruti Jimny 2025: Verdict
The Maruti Jimny 2025 is not a vehicle for everyone–but to people looking for a small, tough offroader, for real work off the road, there are few better yet cheaper options in the India.
Not as cushy or roomy as most city crosses, the Jimny compensates by being a reflexive SUV with true personality, dependability, and a go-anywhere philosophy. It’s the perfect adventure buddy for a practical daily driver.
