Maruti Wagon R Facelift coming soon with advance features, check details

Maruti Wagon R Facelift: The Maruti Wagon R has been the face on Indian roads for more than two decades.

It is recognized for being cheap and portable, coming in a crazy tallboy design, and is popular and cheap enough to have generated plenty of repeat customers going back generations.

Now, with it’s 2025 facelift, Maruti Suzuki intends to bring back the Wagon R to life with cosmetic updates, improved feature list and minor mechanical changes to make sure that it stays in relevance in the fast moving hatchback market of today’s time.

Fresh Look, Same Functional Identity

The facelifted Wagon R is not very different from the tallboy stanced outline that is its signature.

But it does receive some subtle changes at the front, such as a new look grille, revised bumper features and leaner headlamps with LED elements on the top trims. The changes sharpen the face, making it look more urban.

In back, it’s the tail lamps that have been lightly restyled, and the bumper has a cleaner appearance. There are new trendy dual-tone paint options and sportier wheel covers that give it a sporty attitude.

The dimensions and proportions overall remain the same, but it’s these little touches that manage to make the car feel new without screwing with its practical nature.

Minor Interior Changes and Upgraded Features

Interior-wise, Maruti has made small, though important changes. The two-tone dashboard has been updated with a new colour theme and the infotainment system now supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

While the instrument cluster is sem-digital, it does have a more contemporary design.

Although the cabin space is still among the best parts of the Wagon R, with more than sufficient headroom, enough legroom for rear occupants and a flat bench, making it fairly comfortable for small families.

The high-set seating also allows for easy entry and exit, something that elderly people would find quite comfortable to live with.

The updated model also gets steering-mounted audio controls, power adjustable ORVMs, day/night IRVM, USB charging ports and rear parking sensors.

The higher-end versions also include keyless entry and push-button start.

Available Engines and How They Drive

Maruti will still sell the Wagon R with a choice of two petrol engines – a 1.0-litre and a 1.2-litre motor. Both are recognized for their fuel saving capability and stable performance.

In particular, the 1.2-liter engine, while far from powerful, feels perky for city commuting and brief highway stretches.

The transmission options are 5-speed manual and AMT automatic that are tuned for comfort and convenience.

Ride quality is pliant and comfortable, with the grande uncle, takedadriving through in the bumps, but high-speed stability is just okay, thanks to the tallboy layout.

Light steering and tight turning circle are great for swooping through packed urban streets.

There is also an optional CNG variant for daily city commuters for the better running cost efficiency.

Safety and Reliability

In terms of safety, the Wagon R facelift is now compliant with new crash safety norms. As standard across the range, it gets dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, and a seatbelt reminder.

Build quality overall remains workman-like, if functional for life in town. For Maruti, the wide spread service network and low running cost is still a significant advantage.

Maruti Wagon R Facelift: Final Thoughts

The Maruti Wagon R Facelift 2025 continues to build on its core strengths of affordability, space, efficiency and ease of use, whilst getting just enough updates to keep it fresh in a highly competitive market.

Then again, the Wagon R still remains a sensible and practical option for budget-minded purchasers, the first time buyer or anyone wanting a second city car that’s inexpensive to run.

It’s not sexy, but it does exactly what it says on the box – providing practical, sensible motoring in a compact size.
