Suzuki Access 125: In a market where two-wheelers have become an integral part of daily life, the Suzuki Access 125 has gone about unassumingly building up its credentials as one of the most easygoing scooters in the 125cc BSVI segment.
It isn’t the flashiest or the fastest, but it has always given riders most of what they really want — a comfortable ride that doesn’t empty the tank every 150 miles, that doesn’t break down and that isn’t fussy.
With the new model, Suzuki has continued its winning formula while adding some tasteful design updates along with some convenience features and a more refined, BS6-compliant, fuel-efficient engine.
Be it a daily commuter, student or someone who just wants a no-nonsense scooter for short shopping trips, there’s very strong reasoning in favour of the Access 125.
Attractive Little Number That Somehow Never Goes Out of Style
The Suzuki Access 125 isn’t exactly begging for attention, but it looks nice enough, with a slew of paint options.
And it has classic looks that appeal to many riders, young urban professional types and older riders alike.
There is a vintage look to the front with the chrome-finished headlamp, the curvy front apron and clean lines which make it look mature, but the choice of paint schemes and the dual-tone options adds freshness to the look.
Its led headlamps, which are full-LED units in the top variant, external fuel lid and chrome plated mirrors (in the top variant) lend it a little more premium touch while not losing its simplicity.
It’s a look that doesn’t try too hard, and that is part of the appeal.
Large and comfortable for every day rides
BUT, what the Access 125 excels at is in its seating comfort and its roominess.
It also benefits from a longer seat and wider footboard than most of its competitors, meaning it’s more accommodating especially for taller riders or those who regularly carry a pillion.
The seats are cushy and the upright riding position make stop-and-go city commuting comfy and not fatiguing.
There’s enough ‘under-seal space’ for a helmet or your work essentials (21.8 litres), plus you get a front hook and optional USB charging socket too – all handy stuff.
Optimized Engine for Smooth and Efficient Performance
The scooter draws power from 124cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine which belts out close to 8.7PS and 10Nm of torque.
Not very exciting on paper, but we found the Access feels zippy and responsive in city conditions.
Throttle response is very linear and the scooter pulls well from zero km/h which is helpful for overtakes and quick gaps in traffic.
Coupled with its BS6 transition and Suzuki’s Eco Performance (SEP) tech, the Access 125 returns a commendable real-world fuel efficiency figure of 50–55 kmpl which makes it one of the most fuel-efficient scooters in the segment.
The ride quality is good, as is the CVT gearbox, and the engine doesn’t feel too gruff even at high speeds.
It won’t power down the highway, but it has a very pleasant cruising speed of 60-70 km/h.
Ride Quality and Handling
The Suzuki Access 125 employs telescopic front suspension and swingarm-type rear suspension, which do a great job of soaking in most road undulations.
With 12-inch wheels in front and 10-inch in the back, the scooter is perfectly stable with a nice balanced feel during turns and snappy moves.
In the case of the base, braking is managed by drum brakes, and front-disc brake is available in the high-end choice.
It is equipped with Combined Braking System (CBS) for safety when having to brake suddenly.
Pros:
Smooth and fuel-efficient engine
Seating is easy and there’s plenty of room
Charming with a touch of luxury in the details
Massive under seat storage with optional charger
Brand you can trust with minimal maintenance costs
Cons:
No sport-tuner or kid-brother cachet
Lacks a fully digital instrument cluster
Rear Feb 2013 still 10″ ( less than front)
No LED lights or fancy extras which can be found in competitors
Suzuki Access 125: Conclusion
So, the Suzuki Access 125 remains one of the most well-rounded scooters in India’s 125cc segment. It’s not bold or stylish or trendy, but it’s a smooth ride with good mileage, easy comfort and solid ownership.
For those who value practicality, riding comfort, and reliability over flashy design or useless frills, the Access 125 is a smart choice.
